In the framework of the EU project ‘RE-TREAT – Redesigning approaches in dealing with victims of sexual violence in criminal proceedings’, EuroCrime organised in partnership with Psicologia in Tribunale a capacity-building workshop to empower and raise awareness in the criminal justice system about tailored approaches when dealing with victims of sexual offences. The course is aimed at all legal professionals, magistrates and lawyers, bailiffs, forensic psychologists and victim support service providers.
The training covers the following topics: myths and stereotypes related to sexual assault; the emotional, psychological and social impact of sexual assault on victims; the different experiences and needs of particular marginalised victims, such as those with cognitive impairment, and those from CALD and gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex communities. As a background, a Code of Conduct, developed during the RE-TREAT project, will be used. This capacity-building workshop has been adapted based on the feedback received in the focus groups with criminal justice professionals held during the previous phases of the project.
The workshop will be led by Dr. Silvia Ciotti from EuroCrime and will be held on the Zoom platform of Psicologia in Tribunale t in synchronous FAD mode with live session on Friday 17 December 2021 – 14:00-17:00. Afterwards, the course recording will be available on demand for 12 months. At the end of the training it will be possible to download the certificate of participation.
