The first baseline evaluation report on Spain has been realized by the Council of Europe Expert Group on Action against Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (GREVIO).
The report contains a comprehensive analysis of the implementation of the provisions of the Istanbul Convention. It praises the Spanish authorities’ solid agenda of policy setting in preventing and combatting violence against women and their pioneering role by adopting in 2004 a comprehensive law on intimate partner violence incorporating a fully victim-centred approach and mindful of the gendered nature of this kind of violence.
The Spain – e in particular research activities of our FAIRCOM & RETREAT Coordinator Prof. Helena Munoz from Universidad Carlos III of Madrid – has been praised for action against intimate partner violence, but urged to do more against other form of violence against women.
