Counselling Centre of Municipality of Argostoli

The Women’s Counselling Centre of the Municipality of Argostoli has been operating since October 9, 2013. It is staffed by a Psychologist, Social Worker and Sociologist and collaborates with Lawyers from other Counselling Centres. Ensuring privacy, it provides all the following services free of charge: Psychosocial support to women who have suffered, are subjected to different forms of violence and/or multiple discrimination (e.g. immigrants, refugees, single parents, disabled, unemployed , etc.) by conducting individual counselling sessions with a gender perspective; Employment counselling by conducting individual counselling and information sessions; Legal counselling with the assitance of other counselling centres’ Legal practitioners, as well as guidance to women on requesting free legal assistance from the Court of First Instance, in case the criteria are met; Information and specialized information on issues of gender-based violence; Cooperation with other social services and referrals, when required; Guiding women to services, when deemed necessary by the respective counsellor; Networking activities with local agencies, organizations and among the structures of the network, as well as information and awareness actions towards the local community, aiming at the prevention and fight against the phenomenon of violence.
